Acu members magazineMagazine design, logo, and visual identity for the British Acupuncture Council

Acu Magazine is a quarterly publication produced by the British Acupuncture Council, largely by its members, for its members, reaching approximately 7,000 readers. When I took on the publication, it required a stronger sense of identity and a clearer visual structure.

As part of the rebrand, the magazine’s name was shortened from The Acupuncturist to Acu, giving the publication a concise, modern identity while strengthening reader ownership and recognition. The redesign focused on typography, grid structure, and content layout to make the magazine more readable and visually engaging. Custom illustrations were created for the front cover and to support key articles, adding a distinctive and cohesive visual voice.

Working closely with editors and contributors through a remote workflow using Adobe InDesign and InCopy, production time was reduced by 40%, easing the burden on editors, contributors, and advertisers while maintaining consistent quality across each issue. The result is a publication that feels clear, professional, and visually authoritative, reflecting the values of its membership community.
